Stuff You Missed at Rainbow Mountain Resort in 2009

A Regina Sayles Christmas, December 18
Please appreciate that we are totally biased here. We simply love Regina. We love Regina when she joins us for the Ladies 2000 MegaParties in the MouseTrap and we love Regina when she performs upstairs on the Big Stage in the Dance Club.

However, on this special occasion, we got to see a whole new side of Regina's considerable talent. Accompanied by jazz guitarist Spencer Reed (a gifted, talented and well-known recording artist), Regina treated us to a selection of seasonal favorites and an original Christmas song and it was - in an insufficient word - amazing.

Did Amanda mention that we love Regina when she rocks the house with covers and original music? That said, we were moved in a brand new way by this performance. Wow!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature was not pleased with the idea of our having our Customer Appreciation Party and Employee and Friends Talent Show on Saturday night. Think she felt the title was too long? Anyway, the snows came (and just kept coming). Up side, the skiing here is incredible this year. (Last year was a very good ski year, as well; not as much snow, but cold weather early on that allowed lots of snowmaking. We can't begrudged them the weather, since for a couple of years before that is was unseasonably mild - one year it was so warm the ski resorts had to close for a week in January]).

Despite not having our party, many folks remembered to bring a toy for our sleigh throughout the month of December. We most certainly appreciate their generosity, as do the folks at Monroe County (that's our county) Children and Youth Services.

Post Thanksgiving, November 27-29
The unquestionable highlight of the weekend was the premiere Rainbow Mountain performance by Wilkes-Barre Scranton drag sensation - Miss Estella Sweet. Loosely based on the Wizard of Oz, the show - packed with multitalented performers - utilized the entire Dance Club to tell the tale of Little Red Riding Snatch and her sojourn to the Evil Diva Ball. (Amanda believes she has the story correct, but a simple notepad was not sufficient to record all of the happenings.) Cleverly conceived
(evidence one character's name - Chercrow [instead of scarecrow, are you with me here?] and painstakingly executed, it truly was a drag theatrical event.

As if that were not enough, Miss Estella helped fill the seats by organizing a bus trip from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton - so the club was chock full of new (and incredibly cute) faces. They all spent the night, enjoying the Mountain's amenities. We are delighted they were able to join us and look forward to their return.

Ladies 2000 Weekend, November 20-22
Of course, the weekend peaks with the over-the-top Ladies 2000 MegaParty on Saturday - we all know this; but, first Amanda simply must mention The Newlywed Gayme on Saturday afternoon. Amanda never ceases to be amazed at the depth of personal information contestants are willing to share in pursuit of points. All brand-new questions by Manager Jayson seemed to unlock the vault of questionable taste as "the ladies" gladly shared intimate details of the ups and downs (and ins and outs) of their relationships. It would be unlady-like to actually print the details; but, when he asked "the last time my lady decided to try something new in the bedroom, it was wonderful except for (fill in the blank)" - the line of good taste and polite conversation was irreversibly crossed. Amanda can only wonder how Manager Jayson will top this one.

Then, on to the MegaParty, as women traveled far and wide for the best night-out deal in the area - a one-hour Power Bar ($1, you-call-it) and a complimentary diner buffet, nine hours of dance music, karaoke and a live performance by Regina Sayles. We do it all again in April. Be here!

Men's Weekend, November 13-15
Absolutely nothing unlucky about this Friday the 13th. A wonderful time, had by all, at the Congregate Dining Table. It must be the economy, because all the Classic Porn VCR tapes disappeared (sometimes, we can't give them away; wait a minute - we always give them away). Kip Noll! It was Kip Noll. He is a legend! How can you not know him?

And free DVD porn from our friends at

Amanda predicted he would be intelligent, Amanda predicted he would be well-read, Amanda predicted he would be interesting, Amanda predicted he would be an astute conversationalist, Amanda predicted he would be cute. Amanda was right! (That should most certainly not surprise you!)
Jonathan Vargas
and he could dance (okay, and strip).

and, yes, he wore the funny hat from Peru (interestingly, it did not look funny on him).

Photos from Jonathan's Saturday night appearance.

Photo on left proves he was here (see our stage behind him) and was hot. Center photo of generous man tipping Jonathan in exchange for a handshake. Right photo of equally generous man getting more for his money.

Visit Jonathan on his MySpace. Keep up with Jonathan on his blog.

Halloweekend, October 30-November 1
Just as we anticipated, Halloween falling on Saturday of our Halloweekend pushed it over the top.

Friday, it was all about AtmosFEAR - Heaven Leigh's tribute to all things scary and macabre. Saturday, we'll let the costumes do the talking.

And the pumkins...

Fall TG/CD Classic, October 23-25
The festivities on this one really started on Thursday, as almost half of our sold-out crowd joined us a day early. Of course, Amy entertained at Karaoke on Thursday evening in the MouseTrap Lounge. Friday morning, we opened the kitchen just for them for an on-the-house breakfast (as you know, we normally don't serve breakfast on weekdays after Labor Day; but, for these ladies... anything!). Besides, they need the energy for their outing to nearby Mount Airy Casino.

Friday evening, after our Welcome Wine & Cheese Reception and Dinner (we rolled our the new fall menu just for the occasion), we all headed down to the Dance Club for an extraspecial screening of the award-winning documentary Unraveling Michelle. Michelle Farrell is the director (and subject) of the film and she was on hand to conduct a Q&A session after the screening. It was a very emotional and powerful film. Michael has kindly allowed us to add a copy to our Lobby DVD library. Click on the movie poster or on Michelle's photo and visit her website. Go ahead, buy the t-shirt!

Saturday, our Clothing Swap was very well received; but, you girls need to learn how to take, as well as give. Some girls went bowling, some went shopping, some were the "ladies who lunch". Saturday night, the restaurant was brimming and the Nightclub hopping. The photos, which we are delighted to share, simply do not do it justice. A special shout out to our friends from the Allentown Transgender Community, who joined us for the evening.

Fall Bears & Big Guys, October 16-18
Why are these guys so damn nice? That's the usual sentiment after the weekend is over. It's three-days/two-nights of non-stop bonding - and not just in that physical way Amanda suspects your mind immediately visualized (though there was no shortage of that).

Sexy, cute, cuddly, bear-cub Dana was back to insure everyone's good time. He joined us at the Congregate Dining Table both evenings, partied with us in the Nightclub, and - of course - carried out his dancing/stripping/hosting duties Saturday night and well into Sunday morning. One truly can't keep a good man down! (Does this boy not have a refractory period?)

New photos of Dana will follow; assuming Jim ever gets them to us.

We were delighted to welcome back Butch from Butch's Bare Parties, who offered complimentary massages on Saturday (well, the trek up to the Hospitality Suite was taxing). And, once again, the Lehigh Valley's premiere DJ, David Petrilla, kept the crowd dancing.

Unfortunately, the weather on Saturday did not cooperate with nearby Shawnee Mountain's annual Hot Air Balloon and Lumberjack Festival. So, we leave you with our favorite lumberjack carving.

Just a Fun Weekend, October 9-11
Just a series of fortunate events brought this weekend together. Friday, we moved Karaoke upstairs to the Big Stage (and the Big Sound System) in the Dance Club, which we set with table-and-chair seating. Karaoke aficionados from all around came for a chance to sing on a real stage and (as we all know) where karaoke aficionados go, karaoke groupies follow. On top of it all, we awarded prizes for best rendition of a Michael Jackson song and best moon walk. Don't think we can Beat It! it was a Thriller!

Saturday, we happened into a delightful evening. We were joined by the young men from HomeforLostBoys.com.

Here's an adapted blurb from their website:
Home for Lost Boys welcomes anyone who is looking for something more than the typical, boring guy! We want to bring together boys who aren't your cookie-cutter mainstream types and carve a place for them on the internet. We aim to bring you erotic, artistic, and playful photo sets of beautiful, alternative and unique boys. We also strive to be an outlet for our models' self-expression. We want them to be seen as real people with real personalities. We offer other content related to our models as well, and hope to foster a community where everyone has a space to feel safe and accepted.

What an incredibly pleasant group of incredibly androgynous young men. They socialized in the Nightclub and manned (boyed?) a table displaying their website and some wonderful and imaginative photography. The boys took the stage to model (what else) their outfits and dance; then back tot he grind of socializing and selling. As the evening progressed, it seemed each young man further evolved into another persona. Amanda is not one to gush, but it really was remarkable. These boys will most definitely be back; but, meanwhile, click on their logo and visit their website.

Whitewater Rafting Weekend, October 2-4
Afraid this one did not go. We're not certain why. It went each of the past two years, but this date was a little later than those (perhaps the thought of being wet in October was less attractive; though the weekend turned out to be quite mild). Perhaps, the economy? (Though the trip was included with the usual theme weekend rate in the Cherry House, Cabins and Deluxe.) If you have any insight, let us know.

We've always held these on dam-release days, when 850 cubic feet of water per minute are released from the reservoir upstream from where we raft, assuring the 3+ rapids we have enjoyed. As a point of interest, because our spring and summer were so wet, the scheduled dam releases did not adequately empty the reservoir (so it would be ready for winter) and on Monday, October 5, there was a MEGA-dam release of 4000 cubic feet of water per minute. They scheduled it on a weekday, in hopes that fewer amateur tourists would be on the water. In fact, all of the outfitters had all of their staff on the water and used it as a training day. Just an FYI - had nothing to do with us.

We'll try again next year.

OUTDancing Weekend, September 25-27
Not a huge crowd, but a dedicated, dancing crowd. We danced all night Friday, all day Saturday, and well into the second evening. Professional instructor Simone Assboeck exhibited saintly patience as even those of us without right feet tackled (sometimes with the grace of a football player) and ultimately got the hang of the Salsa, Merengue, Hustle, Chacha, Two Step and Country Waltz.
We will most certainly be back for more.

Men's Fetish Weekend, September 18-20

Our guest host Fyerfli was able to spend the entire weekend: joining the Singles' Congregate Dining Table both evenings, socializing with everyone in the house and performing in the nightclub on Saturday night. A few lucky folks even got to see a bonus, pre-show - involving twirling fire (get it, Fyerfli?) - outside the Nightclub on Saturday evening. Of course, everyone interested got to see the bonus show after hours at the Hot Tub, Sauna and Hospitality Dungeon.

We are delighted some folks from Butch's Bare Parties were able to join us.

Thanks, also, to Vera and her Passion Party adult playthings.

Kudos, as well, to our good friends from Inkworks, who pierced and tattooed in the nightclub until their fingers fell off.

Amanda would not be surprised if everyone involved with this weekend did not get a return engagement invitation. Just sayin'.

FACT Summer Games Weekend, September 11-13
Wow, these FACToid folks truly have an in with the Almighty. The weather was, well, less than promising on Friday and Saturday. Then, even before the Weather Channel predicted it, the skies started to clear on Saturday late afternoon and the rest of the weekend was an absolute pleasure, both weather-wise and experience-wise.

Congrats to all the participants in our Friday night Karaoke Contest for FACT and our Saturday night Limbo Contest for FACT.

But, the weekend was all about Sunday and another incredible FACT Summer Games. A little history: "The Summer Games originally started as the "Bar Olympics" with staff and patrons from the Stonewall and Candida's participating in fun, athletic games at the Rainbow Mountain Resort to raise funds for Lehigh Valley and Pocono HIV/AIDS support services. Rapidly growing in support, attendance, and fame the event was re-named The Summer Games to reflect the greatly broadened focus and features."

Labor Day Weekend, September 4-7
If Amanda were to tell the truth, she might write that the weekend was almost picture-perfect from a weather standpoint (certainly a rarity this summer) and that the high point of the weekend may have been seeing Rob's butt as he walked away with the Best Tan Line Title.

However, in order to keep the peace in the kingdom of Carol Ann and Heaven Leigh, Amanda will hastily type that nothing - absolutely NOTHING - compared with the entertainment spectacle that was Sunday night. The stars were out in the heavens, but they could not outshine the stars gracing the Dance Club stage for the fifth Carol Ann and Heaven Leigh production. All-live acting, all-live dancing, all-live singing, all-live shenanigans and their first-ever, all-live dream sequence. (Anybody here wanna tell these two they may be crossing the line? Of course, Amanda [and all the others who have voiced this sentiment] jest out of jealousy.)

And because the poster was just all that (and because no one took any photos, since all hands were too busy applauding):

Just Summer III: Kelli Dunham, August 28-30
Okay, so Amanda has been a tad remiss. You know, being Rainbow Mountain's only accurate recorder of all things past, present and future takes a lot of dong - what with all the dizziness Amanda sees around here. And so it was when a last-minute family emergency called scheduled comic Sherry Davey overseas. Fortunately, NYC lesbian funny girl Kelli Dunham was able to fill the bill (on her way to teaching a stand-up class to incarcerated juvi's in Philly - Amanda kids you not!). As you can see, Kelli wears more than her fair share of hats (and habits) and we are delighted she was able to join us. (If you want an explanation of that last photo, you'll have to catch her act the next time she's here or the next time you're in NYC.) Click on her photos to go to her website.

We mentioned Kelli's many hats/habits, one of which is journalist; and, we are delighted to link to a delightful piece she wrote about us on Philadelphia's Examiner.com.

Circuit Party Weekend , August 21-23
After Ms. Nature swept through about 3 pm on Friday, the weather steadily improved for the rest of the weekend. Get well wishes go out to DJ Dave, and a big thank you goes out to house DJ JoeyZ for covering his slot on Friday.

While the forecast remained dour for Saturday, the actuality was far more pleasant. Many folks enjoys the myriad of wet-weather things to do in the Poconos, while the rest waited out the morning to enjoy a delightful, sun-filled afternoon poolside. A special "thanks for joining us" goes out to the members of the Allentown Transgender Community. Click on Gina's picture, if you would like additional information.

The Nightclub was a sea of white on Saturday evening and major kudos go out to circuit party DJ Drew G for a fantastic evening of music. Drew is DJ and Producer for Grammy Award-winning artist Mya. Also, he has played circuit parties around the globe (now, including the Poconos) and he is resident DJ at Halo in DC and G Lounge in NYC.

In a closing note, Amanda thought - in a tribute to circuit parties world-wide - that is would have been clever to put joints and pills in each guest room and hand them out at the Nightclub door. (Not real pot, of course, but hand-rolled tobacco; and, not real pills, but multicolored Smarties). Unfortunately the fuddy-duddies in power pooh-poohed the idea. Hence, Amanda initiates the official "give Amanda unlimited power" write-in campaign. Just click here to send an email to the fuddy-duddies that be and give them a piece of your mind (or, alternatively, just cut and paste):

"Clearly, Amanda is the brains, wit and beauty of your operation. Stop hindering her ability to max out her madness and give her full reign. Also, see that she is given an unlimited expense account. Please do this quickly, as the "Cash for Clunkers" program has less than 48 hours to go."

Just Summer II: Regina's Balloons , August 14-16
Let Amanda first pay respect to Ms. Nature. This was the nicest weekend of the summer, so far. We were able to hold poolside BBQs on both Saturday and Sunday - a first for the season!

That said, the weekend really got started with a live concert by Regina Sayles. Sure, she sang lots of our favorites and lots of her fans were here to hear those favorites; but, she also treated us to two new songs, "Walk on Water" and "I'm Better With Your Love". We can only hope new songs, means a new CD is on the way. We'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, click on her picture and visit her MySpace and catch a song or a video.

Saturday, the prize-filled balloons fell from the heavens, followed by Heaven Leigh (in Jayson drab)'s Game Show. Question: Exactly, why does Heaven even own a pink cowboy (girl) hat?

Sunday was another incredibly lovely and crowded day at the Pool.

Thank you, Ms. Nature.

Men's Weekend , August 7-9
Friday night was a real treat. Opener Katina Corrao was delightful, headliner Shawn Hollenbach gave great head (by which, of course, we mean he was also funny), and a special appearance by Skip ("Don't touch me") and Sparkle ("You didn't tell me we were performing in a firehouse") took us through the looking glass.

The weather was firmly in our corner on Saturday, as we all enjoyed a day poolside, had an opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of Times Square Kiss, by local gay author Kevin Voglino, and get a heartful touch (by which, of course, we mean a massage by Dennis Sprick).

Saturday night? Let's just say it was a Saturday night of a Men's Weekend and leave it at that. The weather remained quite pleasant until the later hours of the morning, which meant poolside and hot tub were as densely populated as the Hospitality Suite.

It was our privilege to host the Pocono Warriors quarterly meeting. Freebies were compliments of our good friends at...

If you missed getting Kevin's book, autographed copies are available in our Gift Shop in the Lobby.

Just Summer I (aka Brad Loekle in his Undies), July 31-Aug 2
We can't guarantee the weather and (for some reason) we can't guarantee that anyone will be interested in free undies, but we can guarantee that Brad Loekle will be funny - and funny he was. If you missed Brad's performance, click his photo to visit his website to see where he is appearing in NYC. If you don't get to the Big Apple often, visit TruTV's The Smoking Gun and enjoy his witty commentary. (Brad would find a seashell, grind it razor-sharp and manscape? Accommodating much?)

The undies were a big hit this time around. We don't know why. Tighty-whities tie-dyed yellow (we chose yellow to match the trim on our buildings, but perhaps its alternative connotation is what made them popular). Anyway, lots of folks in our undies, lots of folks in their undies - and two hot, Hot, HOT winners! (Folks did seem to spend a lot of time in the bathrooms, though.)

Oh yeah, and the weather was nice, too.

Classics Weekend , July 24-26
Amanda, being the objective reporter she is, should not be surprised when what she promises comes to pass. Nonetheless, even with several previous appearances on the Mountain, Miss Kierra Darshell - Pittsburgh's premiere female illusionist - proved stunning and resplendent. She is truly in a class by herself. Click any photo to be transported to Miss Darshell's website, and if you ever find yourself in Pittsburgh...

Joining our headliner was the one and (thankfully) only camel-toe girl herself, Dinah Klub. Classy, you ask? Maybe not so much. Sassy? Oh, yes. Trashy? Now your getting warm. Click on Dinah's photo go to to her webpage. We warned, ya. Saturday, house cutie (by which, of course, we mean DJ) JoeyZ brought us back through the decades with a Retro Dance Party.

Saturday afternoon, the weather could not have been more perfect for the Wedding of Florence and Rush, which we were delighted and proud to host. Love - now and forever.

Amanda, in addition to being an objective reporter, is also an investigative reporter. As a result of her tireless efforts, she has uncovered sizzling photos that she is all too happy to share. But prior to revealing her find, Amanda must issue a stern warning: These photos are not for the faint of heart. They may only be viewed by consenting adults with very strong stomachs; in fact, Amanda urges you fast for at least 8 hours prior to receiving this communication (Amanda was going to work in the word "communion", but the lightening that just missed her keyboard convinced her otherwise). Please note, there is no "warning" page. A click on Dinah's headshot will transport you directly to the private, exclusive photo gallery. Click at your own risk! Now, go and gouge your eyes out.

Bears & Big Guys by the Pool, July 17-19
Momma Bear Nature must have approved of our first-ever summertime Bears & Big Guys gathering, because the weather was almost perfect (only the torrential rains on Friday evening were a bother; but that started after the day at the pool was done and before the concert started in the nightclub).

James and Toshio (click on names to go to websites, from which you can go to MySpaces, blogs, MusicSpaces, etc.) were on their game for the concert on Friday evening. Tantalizing tats were on display on Saturday evening, along with hundreds of furry men. We searched high and low to find just the right photo to show you what was on display after hours. The tasteful (by which, of course, Amanda means tasty) result is on the right.

Our new, best friends (the folks from Pride Studios) provided free trial passes to their adult websites everyone in attendance, as well as free porn - which we raffled off, for free!

Christmas in July , July 10-12
Wasn't it considerate of Mother Nature to turn off the rain momentarily and give us snow for our Christmas in July celebration? Actually, MN was fairly kind this weekend and the heavens parted for only several hours of deluge on Saturday evening - late enough not to ruin the pool, early enough not to ruin the after hour hot tub traffic. Not to fear, our ark is almost half done.

Amanda appreciates your initial reaction to our Krunchy, Kitschy, Kristmas Koncert may have been reserved, but the crowd came out and acoustic duo Jeff and Karen were sensational! They blended some 60s and 70s standards with some original material with some Christmas ditties - to the delight, dancing and sing-a-long participation of all. Their voices were soaring, their harmonies were tight and their act was right on target. They're right next door in New Jersey, so if you missed them here (or would like to see more), click on their photo and check out their upcoming performance schedule.

Saturday's Sexy Santa and Excited Elf certainly put the "X" in Xmas. Our good friends from Jagermeister were kind enough to supply dozens of freebies, which Santa distributed to all the good little girls and boys.

Fourth of July , July 2-5
Not perfect weather, but sooo much better than what we've had, that we really can't complain. (Of course, Amanda can always complain, she just choosing to refrain - for now). We laid back (some of us laid on our backs) to welcome in the long weekend with an evening at the Pool Bar. Usually only a weekday happening, we fired up the tiki torches and mellowed out the XM.

Poolside during the day, we took advantage of the pleasant rays and baked away our seasonal affective disorders.

Friday night, we were treated to a sensational show. We know Peppermint is a very popular performer in New York City. We know she has a weekly gig at various clubs every night of the week. We know she hosts, she sings, she dances, and that she has a hit single - "Servin' It Up". Nonetheless, we were still amazed at what we witnessed. The lighting, the effects, the energy, the talent, the wit; and then (as if lighting, effects, energy, talent and wit were not enough) she unleashes no less than 4 - count 'em 4 - spectacular (and by spectacular, Amanda means not only incredibly talented, but all those other adjectives that describe the men of Amanda's moist dreams) dancers.

And when Miss Peppermint left the stage to correct a minor wardrobe malfunction and she had those boys "strike a pose" - well, let's just say Amanda became a tad ver clempt. Long live Miss P and her boys!

Not to be outdone, the local talent put on quite a dance show on Saturday night in our Shadow Dance Contest. Since we were only seeing shadows and not real flesh, all those pesky PLCB good-taste restrictions did not apply. Suffice it to say many of our contestants pulled out their big guns in their quests for the $100 cash prize.

Heaven Leigh's Annual Birthday Tribute, June 26-28
Once again, the one-and-only Miss Heaven Leigh herself assembled a bevy of the area's most talented drag performers to pay homage to her divineness. But first, let us all pause and acknowledge the event poster (left), conceived and designed by the one-and-only Miss Heaven Leigh herself.

Moment of silence to pay our respect.

Saturday evening, brought the taping of a pre-pilot - "Real Sexy" - to be submitted to HBO. Pole dancing was the subject matter and the participants were amazing. While Amanda finds it quite challenging to shimmy up the pole in heels (while shimmying), these girls mounted that pole like a familiar lover. We'll keep you posted on the progress of the film project.

And the divas (and divos) were...

Hot Men's Weekend with Chad Hunt, June 19-21
Once again, we were going for the time of year - until the Friday after hour activity and Chad's Saturday night performances. Let's just say the weekend was hot for a great number of reasons. And, of course, what happens at Rainbow Mountain stays at Rainbow Mountain (and becomes part of this review - joking!). Once again, the "You've Got Male" set-up was a success (see below). And our hearts are engorged with appreciation for Chad's appearance. Chad was no small part of the weekend's success. Having knelt at the altar of Chad, Amanda can now testify (hallelujah) that the measurements are, in fact, accurate (Amanda was only there for clinical, documentation and verification purposes, you jealous sluts).
Honest-to-goodness leftover "You've Got Male" comments:
Woof!!
You're Sexxi
Hmm, Very Nice (haven't eaten lately)
I love your "legs"
Let's get together for some hot man-to-man fun
I think you're hot, I want to...
Hot whore, slut, bitch
Call me, I'm military discreet

And a whole flurry of phone numbers and email addresses that Amanda will simply have to verify before publishing.
As always, Amanda writes with tongue planted firmly in cheek (at least that's what she tells people that bulge is).

Hot Customer Appreciation Weekend, June 12-14
While our guests are, across-the-board, hot; this weekend's appellation really referred to the time of year. A chance to get a bargain while the pool is open. Among the weekend highlights, manager Jayson's (that would be Jayson-with-a-Y) latest misery for launching prizes into the crowd - a confetti drop! Actually, less a confetti drop, more a confetti blow out; with propulsion provided by New Pool Boy Stevan's high-powered blower-outer. Yes, it's true, we are already exploiting (and, of course, by exploiting we mean welcoming into the Rainbow Mountain family) our sweet and innocent, 19-year-old pool boy/ground's keeper/maintenance person /best boy Stevan-with-an-A (spellings provided, just in case you're getting anything engraved; and insisted upon by Jayson, since his birthday is up and coming).
Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-25
Friday night, we kicked off with our first ever Nerf Football Game in the Nightclub. It was supposed to involve four, increasingly difficult steps (throwing a Nerf football through a hool-a-hoop, a smaller hoop, a moving hula-a-hoop, a moving smaller hoop). We crowned a winner (not exactly a manly, sporting metaphor) after only the third step. Could the consumption of alcohol prior to game time have had anything to do with it? The entertainment highlight of the weekend was most certainly Sunday night's return performance (but an all-new show) of Bob Lawson's MindGaymes - America's only gay mindreading act. Amanda is still trying to figure out how he did it! And we officially opened the pool with bartenders Larry and Marq.
Spring TG/CD Weekend, May 15-17
Actually, we should list it as May 14-17, since over 20 girls decided to join us on Thursday night. Everything that was promised took place: Amy's Klueless Karaoke on Thursday, Mount Airy Casino day trip on Friday afternoon (with Lin and Lisa), Wine and Cheese Welcome Reception on Friday, Clothing Swap, Horseback Riding on Saturday (with Lisa and Lin), Poolside Party (with sumptuous food supplied by the ever-enchanting Lynn Hart), Night of a Gazillion Gowns on Saturday. The weather held off all day on Saturday to allow our outside activities, but we paid the price later in the evening with a torrential downpour. We all had so much fun, we've all become TG/CDs.
I'll Always Love My Momma, May 8-10
Friday night Karaoke on the Big Stage with Miss Amy, celebrating Baaahhbbaaarrraaah's birthday, got it all started. Saturday, we Loved Our Momma's in the nightclub and each other after hours in the Hot Tub (significant displacement of water signifies tight quarters). Photo to left shows Hot Tub looking all kinds of innocent during the day. Lower lights, the lid pops off, things pop up!
Brad Loekle de Mayo, May 1-3
We love the Bradster (and his faithful sidekick, the Kevinator) - both always good for a laugh (Brad on stage, Kevin off) and a "flash". What happens at the Hot Tub, stays...(unless it's taken down to the Nightclub, of course.) The photo says it all (click on the photo to visit Brad's website, then take the website links to his MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Titter, etc.). Saturday, it was discount Coronas - 'nuff said.
Ladies 2000 Spring Fling, April 24-26
The weather could not have been more cooperative. Friday evening, we got the culture out of the way as lesbian mystery author Liz Bradbury read excerpts from and signed copies of her new book "Angel Food and Devil Dogs - A Maggie Gale Mystery." Later, our just-for-fun volleyball game in the Dance Club may have been taken a tad more seriously than usual (someone instituted a "no carrying a drink" rule while playing!; what's that about?). Saturday afternoon's Newlywed Gayme was its usual delightful self. My, my. The secrets we are willing to share when there is a prize at stake! Saturday evening's MegaParty took the weekend through the looking glass, with a live performance by Regina Sayles and Manager Jayson's "Let's Make A Deal" Contest (with prizes you'll never see on TV).
PA Diversity Network Drag Fundraiser, Sunday, April 19
The photo doesn't even start to tell the story. Take this link and see over 170 additional photos of this incredible event. Over $950 was raised for this most worthy organization and we thank all the folks who donated their time and energy. Photo courtesy of MIchael Prestia, Brooklyn NY; you can contact Michael here.
Sing for Your Stripper, April 17-19
Friday evening, chanteuse and crooner and Susan Boyle (not really) arrived for Karaoke on the Big Stage in the Dance Club. (It was the New York Metropolitan Opera House stage in the promo photo; afraid no one guessed it. Now, if it had been the stage at NYC's Splash...) Mother Nature smiled upon us all weekend with temperatures in the 70s. Saturday evening, we had our own "hot front" (and balmy backside) in the person of UberTwink StripperTeen Damian (spelled like the devil, can you find the 6's?).
Easter Weekend, April 10-12
Good Friday, Great Show! Miss Scarlett Lettah and her crew skated dangerously close to the edge of good taste with a potpourri of numbers with a (sac)religious theme. Words fail. Saturday, true to form, our PlayBunnyBoy ScarLett sat atop her grassy knoll dispensing prize-filled eggs, pearls of wisdom and more than a couple inappropriate poses to a bevy of admirers.
Men's Fetish Weekend, April 3-5
You know, the congregate dining experience has become so popular on these weekends, that one wonders if the option should not always be available (of course, there won't always be an adult film performer at the table, but the conversation will still be stimulating). A special thank you to everyone's "Uncle Mikey" for his spanking demonstration, which was very well received (get it?) by a number of participants and attendees. And Dick Damonson presided over the after hour festivities.
Frank/Olivia's Graduation Weekend , March 27-29
This was one of those warm and fuzzy weekends that help define the true spirit of Rainbow Mountain. Former manager Frank Geib, aka drag diva Miss Olivia Hart (and Ophelia Krotch and Grandma Olive), left the Mountain in September of 2006 to pursue his/her dream of higher education and a culinary career. He just completed his schooling and we were delighted he wanted to return for a graduation drag show and a tasting menu dinner. Here's the warm and fuzzy part: Lots of Frank's friends took time out of their busy lives to come to the Mountain and celebrate Frank's achievement. Congratulations, Frank! We all wish you nothing but the best.
Bears & Big Guys on the Mountain VIII, March 20-22
What a delightful bunch of guys and what a delightful weekend! And wasn't last-minute substitute entertainer Cuddly BearCubby Dana as cute as all get-out? As promised, he spent the whole weekend and was out-and-about the entire time (okay, the entire time he wasn't in-and-about). And that shy and innocent thing he was doing - downright endearing! A shy and innocent stripper, a hooker with a heart of gold, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny. If you enjoyed this weekend, or if you wished you had been here - remember, our first-ever Summer Bears & Big Guys in the Pool is scheduled for July17-19.
St. Pat's, March 13-15
Friday evening's Illusion Concert, Celtic Women, was incredible. Amanda's wig is tipped to the show's driving force, Miss Athena Knight, as well as her fellow (?) performers Scarlett Lettah, Jessica Stone-Hart, and Sofonda Cox. Gorgeous gowns, wonderful performances, altogether an exciting event. Saturday, everyone dipped their hand into our Pot-o'-Gold. Some lucky folks won prizes. Three lucky folks got to play with Jayson (maybe, not so lucky) - as he offered them cold hard cash, his box (also hard, he claims) and his doors (Password?).
March Madness, March 6-8
The rates may have been discounted, but the good times were at full value. Amy's Friday Night Big Stage Karaoke deteriorated into Amy's Great Big Sing and Strip. (Amazing how some [many] folks can work a pole dance into any song.) The Hot Tub water displacement after hours was record-breaking. Congrats to Tyler, whose butt walked away with the Best Moon Contest prize money before we could get his laundry day secret - how did he get his tighty whities so white? I mean, Amanda's talking blinding white, porcelain veneer white, as white as Amanda's soul. Snap.
Single Men , February 27-March 1
If only Amanda could predict what will work and what won't work.... We offer Singles' Congregate Dining at all of our gender-themed (read men's and women's weekends) events with varied results. This week, the table on Saturday swelled to 18 hot bods, including a couple of gents who joined us specifically for dinner! Think the fact that Chad (our adult performer) joined the table had anything to do with it? And our "You've Got Male" two-night party.... We've run this baby up the flagpole before with mixed responses; but, this weekend, we ran out of numbered tags and envelopes. Go figure. Speaking of Chad, the Hot Tub, the Sauna and the Hospitality Suite.... Well, what happens at Rainbow Mountain....
Mardi Gras, February 20-22
Party on , Garth! The ever-decadent Miss Visa D'Klined and her band of debauched drag divas did not fail to entertain on Friday. A special nod to Miss Shangri-La-De-Da for resurrecting the beloved Janis. Saturday, we had a bumper crop of body parts to judge - tits galore, pecs galore, buns galore, pussy galore (yeah, baby, shagalicious). After hours, methinks some body parts were bumping the the Hot Tub. Friday night, too. Just sayin'. So, we awarded $100 to the best tits, $100 to the best pecs, and $100 to the best buns. Manager Jayson threw out cheap plastic beads and coins (good for drink discounts), and bartered the rest for bathroom quickies. Just sayin'.
Valentine & Presidents, February 13-16
What a lovely weekend! Friday's Romantic Karaoke on the Big Stage, Saturday afternoon's Newlywed Game (our reasons for dining at Chili's may never be the same), Saturday evening's scrumptious Menu for Lovers, Lindsey Buffa and Marty Edwards in the Nightclub, an incredible crowd in the Dance Club and MouseTrap Lounge, Sunday afternoon's Attitude Adjustment and Sunday night's Dead Presidents in the Cage. Whew! And the feedback?
"Everything was perfect.  The food was wonderful, the drinks were delicious and the service was outstanding.  We met a few great couples and will  be contacting them shortly.  One of them are long time customers, as we are, and the others are new...we will make them longtime customers!" - Robert & Rodger  Thanks, Guys.
NJLG Havurah, February 1 to 8
Finally, we caught a break from the winter weather and had a delightful weekend for outdoor activities: plenty of snow everywhere and pleasant enough to enjoy it! Plus, we enjoyed NYC lesbian comic Claudia Cogan on her return visit to the Mountain; however, we are having a difficult time erasing the image of "anal bleaching" from our collective memories. And, we crowned our first-ever Most Fabulous Smile Contest winner. (No, the photo is not of the winner, but that kid does have one incredible smile - who is he?)
Frozen Guns & Hoses, January 30 to February 1
Once again, our good friends - the gay cops and firefighters from NYC and beyond - invaded the Mountain for a weekend of R&R. Once again, our duty-bound locals and not-so-locals came out to make certain there was plenty of R&R to go around. A special thanks to Guest DJ Joe Mendez, who took over the booth in the Dance Club on Friday. And and extra-special thanks to StripperKid Scorch (okay, it's really Marvin), who entertained on Saturday night.
January 23-25
A special thanks to all the murder-ophiles, who joined us this weekend - from the Murder in the Nightclub on Friday to the dinner theater "American Idol: Clay's Revenge" in the Restaurant on Saturday. We'd never brought in an outside company to perform (we've done it in-house and we've had a single performer in the past). The feedback forms were positive and we're thinking of doing it again in the fall. Whiterose Productions has an "I Love Lucy"-based script coming up next, so we'll keep you informed.

January 16-18
Delighted to host the monthly PALS meeting, with marathon Karaoke hosted by Tom. PALS (Pocono Action Lambda Society) is the local GLBT group. They meet monthly in various locations around northeast PA, northern NJ and southern NY state. They are a great bunch of folks. So why not click on the logo and see what they're about?

Oh, yeah. we had two more inches of snow. There's a shock.

January 9-11
We're really getting into this Big Stage Karaoke thing. So far, it's been all about the bigger sound, as few folks have actually ventured on the stage itself to perform. Amanda says give it a few more months and folks will have figured out how to sing and work the pole (that would be the new dance pole, slut). MN (that would be Mother Nature; she's been so close to us, of late, that she deserves a nickname) did us dirt on Saturday (okay, literally, she did us snow, then icy rain). Bottom line: Saturday night - MN 1 RMR 0. The up side is that you have a little more time to perfect that already Fabulous Smile for our Fabulous Smile Contest - postponed to a future date.

New Year Celebration, December 31-January 4
Wednesday: The festivities began with a five-course gourmet dinner and new Chef Jimi was on his game. NYC lesbian singing sensation Merav sang and rang in the New Year.

Thursday: Congrats to Daniel for winning the Annual Karaoke Contest Grand Finale. And thanks to all the performers and their supporters, who came out to cheer them on. Amanda still cannot fathom that no one was wearing holiday undies! FYI: Please note that Martin Luther King boxers can be purchased from CafePress.com (then comes Valentine's Day, then Presidents, then Mardi Gras; don't bother wearing undies for Frozen Guns & Hoses or Single Men's Weekends - you'll only leave them at the Hot Tub anyway).

Friday: Always a delight to welcome back our good friend Sherry Davey for a night of hilarity. Riffs on the economy, white collar crime and comedic therapy were right on target. Sherry, self-proclaimed high-priestess of all things trendy and fashionable, does stand-up all over the country and blogs with a passion on NBC's iVillage's Momtourage (Michelle Obama blogs there, as well). And, she can be heard on satellite radio: Jim Bruer's UNLEASHED, Raw Dog - the Comedy Channel.

Saturday: Bad Gift Exchange. A great opportunity to unload that fruit cake that's been sitting in the back of your re-gifting closet.
